Description

Note straight edge (unnatural) of left side of grape leaf when compared to right side (natural). Telltale sign of leafroller activity. Feeding damage can also be seen near the top of the leaf. When leaf shelter was unrolled, a large quantity of frass was found with one very agitated larva, who dropped to the ground to escape. Thankfully, I was able to catch the larva and collect it with host plant to rear. Photos were not taken of the larva which was a golden yellow color with black spots along body. On 6/23, specimen turned pink, probably signaling the start of pupation.

Description

While looking for caterpillars, I found two spicebush leaves heavily glued together with silk. Expecting a Lepidopteran, I found a spider with her hatchlings. Maternal specimen was very wary of the intrusion.
